  • To publish ads on your website, you will need to follow these steps: Sign up: First, you need to create an account on your website if you haven't already. This will give you access to your dashboard, where you can manage and publish your ads. Go to your dashboard: Once you have signed up and logged in, go to your dashboard. This is where you will manage and publish your ads. Create an ad: To create an ad, click on the "Create Ad" button or a similar option. You will then be asked to provide information about the ad, such as the title, description, images, and target audience. Review and publish: Once you have completed the above steps, review your ad to make sure everything is correct. If everything is okay, click the "Publish" button to make your ad live. These are the general steps to publish ads on your website. The exact steps may vary depending on the updates we have on our website.

  • Phone verification will act as a significant barrier to entry for suspicious users, and help improve trust and safety when using Gumtree. We also believe phone verification will act as a significant foundation for user accounts moving forward, where users will be encouraged to utilise one account which will include trust signals such as ratings, reviews and user histories.

  • Verification can take place at each of the following points: Account registration New user posting an ad Click to reveal phone number as a new user Email reply for new user Existing user category selection

  • We believe that by introducing phone verification, we are creating another significant barrier to entry to our platform that will further deter and block bad actors, such as puppy farmers or those identified as associated with animal welfare abuse. This initiative has the full support of the Pets Advertising Advisory Group (PAAG), which represents animal welfare organisations such as the RSPCA and Dogs Trust.

  • Unfortunately it will not be possible to create an account without a mobile phone number. This is a new safety feature we have introduced to improve trust on our platform

  • Only certain mobile phone numbers are allowed for account verification. We currently do not support landline or other non geographic numbers​​​​​
